Heartbreaking news. Microsoft has confirmed earlier rumours that its 1 vs 100 quiz show has been cancelled and won't be returning for a third season this year.

Based on Endemol's televised quiz show of the same name, 1 vs 100 first aired over Xbox Live in 2009. During its beta season, 1 vs 100 set a Guinness World Record for the number of contestants in a game show when 114,000 people played the game concurrently.

"When we started on this journey, we knew we were creating an entirely new genre of entertainment that would be a continually evolving concept," said Dave McCarthy, General Manager, Microsoft Game Studios. "We're very proud of the 1 vs 100 team and their accomplishments, and are excited to apply what we've learned to future programming."

Microsoft's press release states that the development team and technology used to produce 1 vs 100 will be applied to future projects at Microsoft Game Studios, although the company will be hard pressed to find a similar quiz show format that fits the online gaming mould as well as 1 vs 100 does.

Ich finde es auch schade, habe aber schon länger mit diesem Schritt gerechnet. Mit dem Spiel lässt sich halt schlecht verdienen. Oder würdest du MS für die Teilnahme an einer Gewinnspiel-Show - abgesehen von der Gold-Mitgliedschaft - freiwillig Geld in den Rachen schmeissen wollen? Ich nicht .

Aber sie konnten damit ja Werbung machen. Warum dieses Konzept nicht aufgegangen ist, erschließt sich mir nicht. Wenn man über 100.000 Zocker bei einem Quiz gleichzeitig bewerben kann, ist das doch eine tolle Plattform...

ist echt schade, hab einmal fast gegen den Kanditen gewonnen. Ja, hatte einmal das Glück gehabt gegen ihn antreten zu dürfen. Dummerweise hab ich wie er bei der letzten (Fang)-Frage im Eifer des Gefechts Desert statt Dessert irgendwas angeklickt
